Mindful Movement + Strength Training
Over the years I have found that incorporating strength training into my movement practice helps me greatly with managing the aches and pains of being a human with a changing body. Functional movement with weights and resistance is not only great for improving posture but also needed for the health of our bones. The balance between finding rest and movement is dependent on your unique constitution, no one size fits all. This class is designed primarily for parents, caregivers, and soon to be parents. The focus is on building strength in order to feel better in your body, never to be a certain shape or size. You are encouraged to adjust movements that feel better for your body and skip anything that feels unsafe for you. I also encourage you to bring your kid(s) to run around and play. This is a laid back space to enjoy each others company, move, and feel strong in the body you are in.
Class starts with Mindful Yoga inspired movements then progresses into resistance band training, suspension training (TRX), and weight lifting with dumbbells and kettle bells. We work on basic movements: Rows, Deadlifts, Squats, Lunges, Push ups, and transverse abdominal (deep core) engagement.
